Information deprivation

The number of blogs which I cannot access from inside China continues to grow. Now, all blogs originating from typepad, blogspot, and even some not from a blogging service are no longer accessible. This, in addition to wikipedia and Flickr. It might be different if I had never been a visitor to these sites and didn’t know what I was missing, but I’ve already made them apart of my blogfolio. So remember, today, July 4th, isn’t just about hot dogs, it’s also about the freedom to read blogs. It rhymes but it’s no joke.

UPDATE: I did some research and it seems the blocking of these blogs is kinda random. It makes sense because my first time in China (one year ago), I wasn’t able to access blogspot, but when I came back a few months later I was. And, until a few months ago, I still could.

There are some workarounds, but they might slow you down. I tried one and finally could view Wikipedia, but it did nothing for the blogs.
